The FID is an International Design Festival which occurs in Costa Rica every year. It’s a space for inspiration, education, creativity and culture, among others.
My team was in charge of designing the media sponsors lounge area within the beautifully restored Aduana Building. The challenge relied in our ability to create something impactful and easy to assemble, with a very limited budget.

By taking a very common construction material like pipes and pallets and rethinking its use in a different way, we developed an installation around the concept of a the Tree as an analogy of Design, where the branches are reminiscent of all the facets of design such as architecture, interior, graphic, web, food, fashion, and industrial design.
The Tree’s assembly was a crucial component within its design. They were divided in three sections for an easy and quick installation: the base, tronc and branches. During the design phase, knowing and understanding the joints of the pipe system was vital. Each branch was configured with the same components, but with a different look. The assembly of all the trees took one day and half, and they were built by students.
