Through my books I explored how to turn the cheap and worthless into precious and useful. The examples below show some book maquettes using unwanted items:
In this following design I explored the idea of making paper precious:
This piece was based on the idea of the mundane becoming exciting - full of secrets and mystery. It questioned the concept of a book and how even the seemingly obvious can have layers to uncover:
Titled 'Is It Really That Black And White?'
This piece looks at the juxtaposition of text and image. A lino print of a bird can be seen on every page but the word accompanying it changes, for example from isolation to home, barriers to choice etc. Sketches and tests can be seen leading up to the final piece:
Titled 'Sacred Scroll'
