Cath Kidston YCN Awards

For this years YCN awards I chose to enter the competition for the Cath Kidston Brief. To complete the brief we were asked to design a new conversational print taking into account their brand values and print style. This would have to work across three of their product ranges; Women's fashion, Women's accessories and home. We had to keep in mind Cath Kidston's unique style and distinct audience. 
My entry for the competition was based upon memories of summer holidays at the British seaside. I chose to do this idea as I felt it was appropriate for the age range of the audience whom were estimated to be 29 years old. I was inspired by iconic symbols of british seasides including, beach huts, sandcastles, deck chairs and donkey rides. We were asked to produce the pattern in three different colourways, to further my concept I chose to only differentiate the background using colours reminiscent of the british sky.
