'Real Cornwall' Photography Project

As part of our consumerism module we were given a one week photojournalism photography project. We had to choose one of the following themes; urban youth, mature workforce or the real Cornwall.

I chose to explore the theme 'Real Cornwall' and I wanted to portray the older generations who have lived in Cornwall all their lives. I also wanted to convey the welcoming nature of the locals, showing companionship and happiness. In other images I wanted to capture the quirky, unique characters who always wonder the streets of Falmouth.

I chose the photograph below to display as my final image. The gentleman in the image is called Harry and I stumbled across him resting against a wall at Gylly Beach. He was engrossed in a book about the game bridge and was using a magnifier to help him read as he explained he had bad eye-sight. He told me how he had heard of Gylly beach and travelled from far away to spend one of the last sunny Autumnal days relaxing there.
