As a shelter and perch that blends together interior and exterior, Cat-Kit is both a playful standalone structure and a scalable, evolving system.

The tessellated modular form can be mass-produced, made from a wide range of materials, and flat-packed, while the lacing can be catered to contrast or blend and provides a robust but flexible joining method.  By virtue of this design and construction method, Cat-Kit can be assembled in a variety of orientations and aggregations that adapt to environmental conditions and colony needs.

In any format, the structure retains its ability to create inhabitable surfaces with varying degrees of exposure. This allows cats to use the space similarly to traditional structures, but exploits the formal logic and increased density for greater range of occupiable space. In addition, the bright interior lining adds comfort and provides contrast to the exterior, emphasizing the shifting perception of mass and void while moving around the structure.
