INTRODUCTION
Hiking is a digital publication created in Adobe inDesign. It's sole purpose is to offer outdoors enthusiats, whether beginner or advanced, a resource of information about hiking. Guides featuring gear choices, bag packing, what to look for on trails, and first aid, are some of the topics covered.
The biggest challenge when developing Hiking was that it was intended to use anywhere. So, having streaming content was not an option, as some users could be in remote areas without internet access. To combat this, I made the decision to embed videos, rather than have them stream from YouTube, etc. This made the document larger in size, but in the end, works better for it's intended purpose.

COLORS
Warm, natural tones were chosen. Each section/chapter in the Hiking publication had it's own unique color so that navigation through the DPS was simpler and content was easier to find.
SKETCHES
I had no experience with DPS prior to this project. Planning was essential so that I didn't get overwhelmed along the way and like any good hiker, to stay on the right path.
VISUAL MOCK UPS
Rendered in Photoshop and Illustrator prior to translated to InDesign. Each section/chapter of Hiking had a cover page and a unique color scheme.
