Web: Design Manifesto

This was a much more personal project. From the visual language to the content, this page represents how I view and approach design. Of course, over time my perspectives will mold and adjust, but this manifesto represents who I am as a designer in this moment.
A design can be both visually appealing and follow design guidelines, but that does not ensure its success.

We may have different tastes in design, but that does not mean design is arbitrary. The only bad design is the one that goes against the essence of design.

The shift from print to digital is a positive one for designers with environmental concerns, but they should also consider the ecological impacts of technology.

Anti-design is not design, it is a rejection of accepted and agreed upon practice, and so cannot be criticized from a design perspective.

No matter how objective a designer is, their unique design style will appear even if they follow a client’s requirements perfectly.

Technology is pivotal to design in the modern day. That is something to be embraced.

Design, if not used for a capitalistic end, is also used for propaganda. Designers should research and review client information if it is politically charged, and verify if that information is accurate.

Design is not purely static. Design can heavily rely on its environment. Everything is about carefully packaging something to maximize a desire or feeling in a person.

Less is more.

When designing for a group of people that are maligned or misunderstood, use care to represent them in a way that makes you proud.
