For this project, I was asked to create a single paged website that showcased previous knowledge of HTML and CSS and recently acquired knowledge of JavaScript for GIT 418.
This project inspired me to create a webpage for the Arizona State University Women's Ice Hockey Team because I have already managed all of the social media accounts and the only part of the digital assets, I have not gotten to would be our webpage so I thought this would be a fun project to explore that.
This wireframe shows the beginning of what I had planned for the single page website I was going to create. It briefly shows the layout intended for the project.
Site Purpose:
The purpose of this site was to showcase the ASU Women's Ice Hockey team on the web so that people interested in joining the program or people wanting to learn more about it can easily access the team's social medias, schedule, mission statement and contact information.
Steps Taken:
To start gathering content, I found all of the team's social media accounts and various information about it to gather text content. Since I was a member of the team, gathering photographic assets was simple because I already had access to most of it. I also used ASU branding to utilize ASU colors as well as when I was exploring font, ASU uses Arial as default so that is what I went with.
When I was writing the code I made sure to start with the HTML and put most of the content I thought I would need in there, then did some simple styling before moving into the JavaScript. Throughout writing my JavaScript code I needed to periodically add things to the HTML and CSS to fulfill requirements. While doing so I made sure to add comments to ensure my code was organized and simple to read and refer back to.
What I Would Change:
