Heuristic Evaluation - Disney + Hotstar

Heuristic evaluation is a process where experts use rules of thumb to measure the usability of user interfaces in independent walkthroughs and report issues.
1.VISIBILITY OF SYSTEM STATUS:
It states that the design should always keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate feedback within a reasonable amount of time.
2.Match between system and the Real World:
The system should speak the users' language, with words, phrases and concepts familiar to them, rather than system-oriented terms.
3.User Control and freedom:
Users often make mistakes or change their minds. Allow them to exit a flow or undo their last action and go back to the system’s previous state.
4.Connsistency and Standards:
Users should not have to wonder whether different words, situations, or actions mean the same thing. Follow platform and industry conventions.
5.Error Prevention:
Alerting a user when they're making an error, with the intention to make it easy for them to do whatever it is they are doing without making a mistake.
6.Regconition Rather than Recall:
Recalling items from scratch is harder than recognizing the correct option in a list of choices because the extra context helps users retrieve information from memory.
7.Flexibility and Efficiency of Use:
Shortcuts— unseen by the novice user — speed up the interaction for the expert users such that the system can cater to both inexperienced and experienced users.
8.Aesthetic and Minimalist design:
Aesthetically pleasing designs can provide memorable experiences that differentiate a brand. However, interfaces should only include necessary elements, with high informational value. Clarity will always win over visual flourish.
9.Recognize, Diagnose and Recover from Errors:
Design effective error messages by ensuring they are highly visible, provide constructive communication, and respect user effort.
10.Help and Documentation:
Interface help comes in two forms: proactive and reactive. Proactive help is intended to get users familiar with an interface while reactive help is meant for troubleshooting and gaining system proficiency.
