Undercover Colors

Branding
The Challenge.

As part of a branding exercise for the new course I am undertaking, my tutor gave me the challenge of branding the new nailpolish that detects date rape drugs called 'Undercover Colors'. This was just a conceptual exercise to show brain storming and design ideology.

The Brand.

Four students from North Carolina State University have invented a nail varnish that detects common date rape drugs by changing colour. The all-male group of undergraduates, aim to combat sexual assault by combining modern chemistry with traditional cosmetics. The nail varnish indicates the presence of date rape drugs, such as Rohypnol, Xanax and GHB, by changing colour after being dipped in the drink.

The Idea.

The textures used showcase the changing of colour as well as the role of liquid within the concept of changing colour. The logo is simple in black and white but blends with the textures used to showcase the undercover nature of the same. The simplicity of the white in the background of such vibrant, definitive organic shapes makes the logo stand out more and really showcase what the nailpolish does.
