A Midsummer Night's Dream
In 2016, as a fresh face at University, I sought to connect with like-minded individuals and found myself drawn to the online gaming society. With the start of a new group of society members, came the tradition of selecting a new team name. Drawing from a longstanding custom, we embraced the name 'Oberon', one of the mighty moons of Uranus, echoing the enchanting spirit of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
Delving into Oberon's characteristics, I uncovered its rugged terrain akin to Earth's moon, composed of rock and ice. This discovery guided our design journey, influencing the logo's palette—a blend of 'moon grey' for its rocky surface and a deep, space-themed black with a subtle hint of blue, mirroring its icy composition.
Our society members yearned for a dynamic style often seen in esports and traditional sports logos, we found strength in this style due to its simplicity, reflecting the bold essence of our lunar namesake.
My commitment and hard work towards the society paid off - as I started my second year of University I became the Society Leader for my last two years of University.
