Dynamic lighting is a powerful tool that can transform any space, whether it's a home, an office, or a public venue. However, until recently, accessing this technology required complex installations and confusing software, which limited its accessibility and usability.
As part of a dynamic team of developers and product managers, I played a key role in creating an innovative and user-friendly automated lighting tool that transformed the way users interact with lighting fixtures. By leveraging modern design practices and cutting-edge technology, we were able to simplify the process of connecting fixtures, integrating floorplans, and managing canvas properties, all while providing users with a step-by-step walkthrough guide that made the process effortless.
Our system was designed with a focus on delivering a seamless and intuitive user experience, aimed at capturing new customer bases for dynamic lighting solutions - particularly small businesses. By creating a simplified, yet dynamic and powerful software tool, we enabled both new and veteran users to easily interact with lighting fixtures and enjoy a seamless experience.
Through this project, I gained valuable experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, leveraging modern design practices, and creating user-friendly software solutions that exceed customer expectations.
When creating a new system, it's important to balance modern design practices with brand identity and customer expectations. That's exactly what we did when developing a system that applied clean and concise iconography and user-friendly controls, while also preserving the established brand identity and familiar colour scheme.
One of the key challenges we faced was ensuring that the system felt fresh and modern, while still maintaining the recognisable brand identity. To overcome this challenge, we applied modern design principles such as clean lines, simple iconography, and intuitive controls that were easy for users to understand and navigate. We also made sure to preserve the established colour scheme of the parent software, Designer, which was crucial for maintaining consistency and brand recognition.
Through our work, we were able to create a system that was not only visually appealing, but also highly functional and user-friendly. By focusing on modern design practices and preserving brand identity, we were able to create a seamless and intuitive user experience that was highly praised by users and stakeholders alike.

Our team set out to create a revolutionary new way for creators to manage and control their lighting fixtures, starting with an innovative approach to building and planning on a floorplan. Our system was based on creating digital spaces that allowed creators to easily allocate and group lights, resulting in more efficient management and visually stunning lighting designs.
By using floor plans as a tool for controlling and interacting with lights, we were able to give users the freedom they needed to create their lighting experiences. With a straightforward and intuitive user interface, creators could easily drag and drop fixtures from the fixture library into their desired space, allowing them to design and customise their lighting schemes with ease.
One of the most exciting features of our system was the ability to create groups of lights within a digital space, which made it simple and efficient to manage and represent the lighting design. This feature gave creators more control and flexibility than ever before, resulting in truly unique and stunning lighting experiences.
Overall, our project was a huge success, delivering a ground-breaking new way for creators to manage and control their lighting fixtures. Through our work, we were able to help creators bring their vision to life, providing them with the tools they needed to create truly stunning lighting designs. I'm proud to have been a part of this project and to have gained valuable experience in developing innovative software solutions.
