Competition entry for a Penguin book jacket design for "The Outsiders".

The competition was aimed much more at illustrators rather than graphic designers with almost all previous winners being traditional artists, so with no real pressure I used this as an excuse to experiment in ways I ordinarilly would have avoided, namely physically making things. 

Putting less emphasis on the design of the cover itself I took the term "book jacket" literally and physcially made a leather jacker to suit the "greaser" style that's so prominent in the book.
