Terrawave: Project sunflower

Project made for the third semester of the university UNIVALI. For the Game Designer Course.​​​​​​​
The theme was chosen by the idea of Solar Punk's future. The colors are inspired by the images of a green world and at the same time destroyed by humans.
The name choice was given from the idea of the society dying in a silent way, without a big war but with a collapse of capitalism. The naming flow is shown underneath. Sunflower is a plant that can absorb radioactivity from the area, being used as a way to reduce the backlash from inhospitable places
The game was made on the Game Engine Godot. One engine with easy use and many resources for both newcomers and more experienced programmers.
Mechanics
I decided that a platformer needed good movement and jump mechanics for precise movements. For that I made a code that counts how long the player holds the space bar, reducing from a float that decides how tall the jump will be.
The game doesn’t have a tutorial, instead it lets the level design suggest what the player should do. Teaching them by playing in a controlled environment
At the end, all the mechanics are put to the test and the player will try their skills.
