Field Trips to the Houston Museum of Natural Science

The Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS) has been dedicated to enriching lives through the wonders of science since 1909. Over the past century, the facility has evolved from modest beginnings to become an expansive, multi-story science center located in Hermann Park. The venue is visited by more than a million people annually and offers immersive educational experiences, including field trips for students.

Accessing HMNS’ world-class exhibits and programs for school field trips is possible at three locations including Hermann Park, Sugar Land, and the George Observatory. These trips can be customized to allow educators to tailor their visits based on specific themes or subjects. For example, teachers can select films that complement their curriculum through the Teacher’s Choice and Planetarium Picks for Educators programs. These programs are offered in the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre and the Burke Baker Planetarium.

All HMNS field trip packages are aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards to provide students with the opportunity to actively engage in their learning while exploring the museum’s exhibits. Bookings should be scheduled three weeks in advance to secure availability.
