Three Book Covers for, Jane Eyre
This projects goal was to create three different book covers for the same book, that emphasized different strategies of creation.
The first was focused on typography, how could type help portray the story and invite the reader to pick up the book.
The second design was to use physical materials. In previous drafts to figure out composition and color questions created them digitally but for my final design I painted it in acrylics. this allowed my colors to be more harmonious because I stuck to a limited color palette of purple, white and yellow.
For the last design it as a designers choice. I liked the them of purple heather that would be on the hills of where Jane lived her life so I incorporated that throughout all my designs beautiful but subdued. On this particular design I wanted to show the beauty of the text that might have been used during the books original publication, Baskerville.
through out the creation I went from all the designs sporting different colors to them all using a harmonious monochromatic color scheme. I quite liked this project and I think that all of my designs reflect on different aspects of Charlotte Bronte's book, Jane Eyre.
