This project was a means for my client to communicate her severe nut allergy in as many languages as she came across during a European trip last year. The project was simple: “I don’t want to go into anaphylactic shock, so I need to be able to know how to ask questions.” This book became a study tool of sorts, allowing her to practice the language, and if that didn’t get the point across, she could simply pull out the book and show the food service worker what she was trying to communicate.
The biggest challenge of this project was in the translation. I needed to be sure that the message wasn't misheard as "Peanuts! I want nuts in my food, please!"
