in-D gaming magazine

This was my final project as part of my bachelor's degree in arts: in-D, an independant video games magazine. This featured issue is their end of year count-down featuring the best indie games of 2012. The line up of games and their order was taking by combining the results of various best of 2012 count downs found around the web at the time of the project.
24" x 36" - The initial poster that inspired the magazine's visual style. The poster was a map intended for non-gamers suggesting what type of games they could be interested in, depending on their reactions to the various questions. The blocky style was used to make a visual link to older video games which non-gamers might more easily associate with video games.
24" x 36" - Promo poster for the "best of 2012" issue. Each hand represents a game of the count down. "Which game will be crowned best of 2012?"
10½" x 13½" - Cover. The icons from the initial poster were taken and used throughout the issue to represent the main style of each game. The block style was kept as it was reminiscent of the popular 8-bit style used in the indie gaming community.
21" x 13½" - Two-page spread; ad on the left, editor's column on the right.
21" x 13½" - Two-page spread from the runner-up section, which featured 12 games that were quite popular but didn't make it to the top 15.
21" x 13½" - Two-page spread.
21" x 13½" - Two-page spread.
21" x 13½" - The top 3 games each got their own two-page spread.
21" x 13½" - Two-page spread.
10½" x 13½" - Back cover, echoing the promo poster. The hand representing the number 1 game, from the original poster, is featured.
