Empower On! is a project that my girlfriend Gaby and I created to help her study abroad in a wheelchair, while working to inspire and empower other students with disabilities in our local and global communities.
Eight years ago Gaby broke her neck in a diving accident. However, despite the resulting challenges she has faced, Gaby never gave up on her goals and dreams. Gaby had always wanted to study abroad, but after her accident she wasn't sure how to make it happen. When we looked into it, unfortunately we could not find much information on our campuses about studying abroad in a wheelchair. Gaby did not let that stop her, and ultimately we decided to study abroad together in Barcelona, while documenting the experience to help other students.
Together Gaby and I created a crowd funding campaign to raise money and awareness for our project. Thanks to the loving support of friends and family the project was a great success! The following short film, book and other designs were created to share our story and thank family, friends and supporters around the world for their generous help.
