This is my student project about fictionary Olympic Games in Russia.

 

The inspiration came from the local tradition, maximalism and love for nature. After numerous drafts my final choice was to use the Matryoska doll (also known as Babushka). The finishing bottom of the doll is depicted with ethnic and floral elements. The colors used were red and blue, taken from their national flag, but also chosen for the strong effect they have on human phycology. 

Red has the bigger impact since it stimulates the heart beats and the frequency of breathing. It's related to bravery, joy and energy. Blue expresses confidence, stability, calmness and certainty.

 

Overall the goal was to create a logo and branding based on the national character of Russia but at the same time representing a more folkor identity of the country.
