Sukkerbiten — Oslos kulturkontainer

Westerdals, May 2013

Sukkerbiten is a restaurant, bar and nightclub cooperation with cultural events. As a guest, you can enjoy the smell of harbor, summer breeze, and heated concrete. This is the place for people seeking cultural activities in a casual and social atmosphere. I chose to develop a new identity that spoke to the institution’s current offerings and values. The customer wanted help getting Oslo residents to discover and use. Sukkerbiten and its temporary urban space. They wanted to target Oslo residents with an interest in play, culture, and casual nightlife. The project was to create a visual identity based on this criteria.

Solution

I came to the conclusion that Sukkerbiten should primarily target the city trendsetters.
These people are in age span between 25 to 35 and lives in Oslo. They hang on festivals domestically and abroad and is very up to date on the city’s nightlife. Sukkerbiten is playful in shape and mindset. It is extroverted and invites to several acquaintances. It is flexible and can be easily moved and resized. In addition, the provisional due to its temporary existence. Finally, I want it to be associated with the summer season and create an airy feel. I have tried to take these values into the visual expression. I chose to present Sukkerbiten as Oslo Culture Container — a melting pot of urbanism, sea, asphalt, beer and lively culture.
