eBook Cover, Promotional Material and Video Creation

I was approached to create the book cover for the eBook "The Last Tree", requiring only a front cover image.

The author did not want any visual depictions of the main character on the cover. Therefore, it was decided that the cover image should only include only a tree against a starry background to signify the story's main themes.

I produced a conceptual sketch using a picture from an image bank. The concept was approved, but it was decided that the point of view should be more dramatic. 

Using references of the actual Fitzroya Cupressoides (the tree in the book), I created a new sketch. Once approved, I created an illustration of the tree, selecting the starry background from a photobank.

Although Neuropol had been used in the first conceptual sketch, it was decided that the title needed a unique font. Therefore, I created a new font that would blend the science fiction side of the story with its ecologically conscious side. 

After presenting several book cover options, the author chose the slanted title version. Neuropol was still the font used for the author's name, for readability.

The finished result published online.

Small ads were also designed and printed to promote the book in libraries, bookstores, book fairs, etc.

In addition to the book cover, I was also commissioned to create a video trailer to promote the book. The author provided a 30 second script, and I suggested the images that could best illustrate the lines.

Once the concept was approved, I selected several videos and music tracks from Pixabay, and edited them into a single 42 second video.
