Automating the Future

This publication in its printed form is a book in its traditional sense. Its form is sampled from Schrift, Adrian Frutigers work from 1951, in much the same way as an automated publication might use a layout
If you view this in a digital medium it most likely isn’t.

The design of the book implies a possible future for the design business. How shape and form are copied from previous known work and are converted to its purpose by making parameters of the design choices and adapted to fit the new content. This form of sampling will become more automated by time and refined by design professionals. New professions will follow.

The timeline represented as a gradient where things considered further away in the future also lies more in the dark. (Free Interpretation.)

This is the first version of a prophetic artistic interpretation of the future of the information industry.
It started as a research project about the future of the book, made for the Masters Degree book design course at Konstfack School of Arts, Craft & Design, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The course was held by Studio SM under the supervision of Prof. Johanna Lewengard.

The research was primarily focused on automated design and its implications on publishing today and the outcome presents the thoughts of its future.
The purpose of the Publication is to be a common point of discussion around the topic of how information in a future society can be shaped.

For the sake of Science Fiction all kinds of Software are referred to as “Robots”.
