“Powiśle”

“Powiśle” is part of the “Powiśle-Bielany-Białołęka” triptych – a project carried in areas that face the greatest flood risk according to the document “Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for the Warsaw” (http://tinyurl.com/mw3se8sb). I went to these neighborhoods to collect rubbish which I used in my artworks. These artworks are meant to provoke reflection and discussion about what will happen to the growing pollution when entire neighborhoods of our cities are flooded as a result of global warming. Is this what the apocalypse will look like (or maybe: already looks like?)? Will new forms of life, previously unknown ecosystems, evolve from rubbish? And finally – are we ok with leaving such a dirty legacy to the world?
