Typographic experiment Prize @Cele mai frumoase carti, Romania, 2014

 

Yayoi Kusama is a japanese avantgardist, psichedelic, conceptual, minimalist, expresionist artist. She uses simple materials with a powerfull expresivity. She plays with literal and vizual metaphors. Beeing bored of the japanese style in art, she developed her own eccentric and obsessive style.

Taking all these ideas in consideration, I created a book based on a continuous writing, without paragrphs and new ideas, a schizofrenic one, the typography being very small. The images are small too, all this book being based on metaphors.

 

Binding: The japanese binding is frequently used in japanese manuscripts. The string
is sewn alternately up and down the paper block, including the covering material too. The paper block has a number of equidistant holes through which the string is swen until it comes back to the starting point where the strig heads are tide in a knot. The string is looped at the top and bottom of the book and top-bottom sewing points.
