I Biribò è una serie di libri destinata al bambino in età prescolare che deve affrontare, assieme ai suoi genitori, l’arrivo di una nascita prematura in famiglia. Per i genitori il periodo che va dal ricovero del neonato in Terapia Intensiva Neonatale (TIN) e la dimissione è generalmente un momento di grave impatto emotivo, fatto di ansie e incertezze. Anche per i fratellini può essere un periodo ugualmente stressante. Attraverso il libro illustrato interattivo mi sono posta come obbiettivo di agevolare l’accettazione da parte del bambino di questa situazione critica. Il lettore si troverà nella prima parte a spostare pagina per pagina, la figurina di Lucia, a sovrapporla alle cose e a scoprire cosa fa di lei una bambina estremamente delicata. Successivamente, quando arriverà il momento di andare a trovare la bambina in ospedale, il lettore accompagnerà il fratellino di Lucia, Mirò, attraverso le stanze dell’ospedale fino all’incubatrice della piccola. In questo modo il bambino troverà nel protagonista un compagno di viaggio in cui identificarsi.
I Biribò is a series of books designed for pre-school children who are facing, together with their parents, the arrival of a premature birth in the family. For the parents, the period between the hospitalization of the new born in the neonatal intense care unit (NICU) and his discharge is usually a time of serious emotional impact, made of anxieties and uncertainties. Even for younger siblings it can be a stressful time. Through an interactive picture book I aimed to facilitate the child’s acceptance of this critical situation. Assuming the fact that children often do not see the new born baby, at least not at the very beginning, I Biribò is divided into two parts. The first part is the introduction to the premature birth and tells about the delicate clinical conditions of Lucia, the second part offers a virtual tour of the Neonatal Intensive Care set in a typical hospital. Regarding the playful element, I was inspired by the numerous game books of children’s book publishing. In the first part of the book, the reader will be involved in moving, from page to page, the shape of Lucia. In this way the reader can discover what makes her a little and extremely delicate girl. In this way, the child can identify himself with the main character and find the reassurance of a companion.
