Columbia Business School Receives Generous Donations

Art Samberg, a well-known hedge fund manager and former Chairman and CEO of Pequot Capital Management, Inc., has demonstrated continuous support for his alma mater, the Columbia Business School. After earning an MBA at Columbia, Art Samberg went on to have a successful career on Wall Street. He has made three donations to the business school, totaling $60 million. In 2013, it invested approximately $40 million to expand the new Manhattanville campus, a 450,000-square-foot campus designed by the New York architecture firm of Diller Scofidio + Renfro. A 2006 gift of $25 million from Art J. Samberg allowed the school to endow several chairs and strengthen the school's faculty. The Arthur J. Samberg Institute for Teaching Excellence was founded in 2002 after he made a donation of $10 million. The Institute aims to enhance the business school program by providing complementary programs and resources for both faculty and students.
