Nothing shall be impossible

"Nothing shall be impossible" is a campaign I did at Bohan for Saint Thomas Health, a large, faith-based healthcare system serving middle Tennessee.

"Nothing shall be impossible" crystallizes and encapsulates the organization's passionate commitment to bringing hope and healing to all. The spiritual origin and nature of the theme highlights and celebrates Saint Thomas's holistic, faith-centered approach to care.
This amazing lady had been diagnosed with lung cancer about 4 years ago. When we caught up with her at her home in Donelson, she was training for a half-marathon, which we filmed for a TV commercial. What a bundle of energy. When she's not running, she's helping spread the word about lung cancer and serves as an advocate for those suffering from  the disease.
Nurses, doctors, and staff gather to pray at the start of each shift.
This gentleman's amazing transformation is the result of bariatric surgery. But the surgery just takes the weight off. It's up to him to keep it off. And he has. I had the pleasure of chatting with him between shots and he told me how he completely changed his attitude toward food and exercise (he's in great shape, btw). "I still eat pizza," he said. "But just a slice, not the whole pie."
We were just hanging out at the hospital, visiting different floors, talking to staff and a patient or two. Then we met this man, a heart patient whose treatement literally saved his life. He felt such joy and gratitude he offered thankful prayers to God, right there in the hallway. This is an incredible shot, perhaps too small to fully appreciate here, that captured an incredible moment.
The storytelling may begin on a billboard. Or a TV spot. Or a poster at the airport. But online -- in blog posts, tweets, instagram phots, and Facebook feeds -- is where the real magic happens. Here we're able to share the rest of these patients' incredible stories, as well as offer expanded information about specific conditions and treatments to those who may be facing similar challenges. The NSBI website invites visitors to share their own stories of triumph, under the heading of "What's your impossible?"
As new stories are told, older, more familiar ones are revisited, as we continue to follow patients along their journey.
"Nothing shall be impossible" is a phrase from Luke 1:37.
Nothing shall be impossible works perfectly with Saint Thomas's mission to promote healthy living in order to "care for individuals and communities before they get sick." Here we see the NSBI message serving as both a sponsorship mark and an inspirational message to cyclists.
This was shot in the parents' waiting room, right outside of the NICU at Saint Thomas Midtown. This precious little girl and her twin sister both went home a week or so after our visit. Below you can see how content was matched up with the expertise of specific hospitals. St. Thomas midtown is well-known as a leader in neonatal care.
The story of each patient continues to unfold, offering more detail and engagement as we move into the digital environment.
Many of these stories were uncovered simply by "hanging around" the hospital. Above is a man whose poor health resulted in a quadruple bypass. Since the operation he has become totally dedicated to fitness. He's almost a permanent fixture in one of the St. Thomas cardio fitness facilities.
Even larger than the external component is the internal one. The NSBI platform is used in countless ways to unite and inspire those within the Saint Thomas organization.
Saint Thomas is an official sponsor of the Tennessee Titans. Our hope was that NSBI might be something the team found inspirational, something that had meaning for them, like it did for us. As you can see from this Facebook post from Dexter McCluster, they have embraced the message wholeheartedly.
Below is a series of posters originally designed to speak to specific internal audiences. Now they are making their way into public areas.
