10 hidden gems to discover in Newcastle

Ten hidden gems to discover in Newcastle
Being the best place for a stag do, Newcastle is home to us proud Geordies. The undeniable "party capital of the north" always knocks out every other city in the running because of its abundance of attractions, nightlife options, gorgeous northern women, Newcastle Brown Ale, and heart-pumping activities. There are five primary nightlife districts in the city, each with a unique ambiance to accommodate any kind of stag party. You can travel across with split tickets. as well.

Quayside
Even while the Tyne Bridge is breathtaking, it's not only about the spans. Pubs, taverns, and restaurants abound on the Quayside; they range in price from cheap and cheerful to some of the trendiest spots in the North. Everyone has partied down here, from Floyd Mayweather to Harrison Ford (yes, even Han Solo), but be warned—the hill leading back up into the city center is treacherous after ten pints.

Dean Street and Grey
The gorgeous Georgian building is a visual feast, making this the swankiest street in the Toon and, at one point, Britain's best-looking street. But since that won't likely bother you, let's get right to the point: There are a ton of cocktail bars and a strip club. Head along Dean Street, and you'll find more of the same, along with some of the trendiest restaurants in the city and an impressive collection of supercars to admire.

Jewelled Strip
The place where Geordie Shore was born, and it's canny decent, as Scotty T would say. You will have a hard time finding someplace on a weekend that isn't completely bouncing, but it's VIP down here, sweetheart. Any self-respecting stag must visit the Diamond Strip, which features Howlers (which has a ball pit!) and Bijoux, the "busiest little bar" in the city. There's a good chance that you will also become mortal if you want to follow in the footsteps of Gaz, Chloe Ferry, and Marnie Simpson. If you're lucky, you might even get a tash on. Just try not to get pied off.

Largest Market
The Bigg Market is a legendary place to shop. The Bigg Market is as varied as they come, from the sticky, treble-soaked flooring of Mushroom at the top of the street to the hip wine bar that was once a public restroom. It is also in the middle of a significant makeover, with new bars opening up all the time (some of which stay open quite late, like Filthy's). However, it's a place you should spend at least one night in your life because you won't soon forget it.

Jesmond
This is where they would film a Toon adaptation of Made in Chelsea. It's one of the strangest postcodes in the city, but maybe the most fashionable as well. Osborne Road lies at its core, a hive of wild undergraduates desperate for a good time. In addition to chic restaurants and boutique stores, there are many lively pubs with lively happy hours. For example, Spy Bar's "push the button" offer is legendary in the area, and hipster hangouts like Jam Jar have picture-perfect cocktails that are excellent for Instagram.

Howlers
You're in luck if you want to get balls deep in Newcastle. Howlers is a huge kid's dream come true. It is a massive soft play with the option of endless alcohol. Although the large ball pit at this underground Diamond Strip location is its most well-known feature, the cocktails are also quite amazing—we know this since we had an amazing staff night there. It has everything from lip sync battles and bingo to drag acts and pizza. Not too bad for a quiet night in Spoons, huh? Additionally, there isn't a better place in the city than the enormous Barbie box to take the ideal stag selfie. Book your Newcastle train tickets immediately to have the most amazing trip ever.

The Lofts
Enter the largest "superclub" to open in Tyneside in more than ten years. Modern sound equipment and enough for 1,500 partygoers make The Loft the newest gem in Newcastle's nightlife crown. Clubbers at what was once Tiger Tiger may enjoy the best tunes every weekend spread over three stylish and colourful rooms. Its proprietors have connections to some of the world's largest nightclubs, such as the storied Café Mambo in Ibiza. Since its August 2021 launch, the venue has hosted celebrities, including Pete Tong. Start your evening downstairs at the sister venue, The Hustle, if you'd like to eat before hitting the dance floor. There are cocktails and New York-style tapas (yes, they exist, and they are amazing) available.

The WonderBar
Although the Wonderbar specializes in something very British, it may sound like the kind of establishment you wander into at 3 a.m. after having a skinful in Berlin. With darts. Arrows, you know. Two-toned shirt. One in a hundred. Bowen Jim. You can unleash your inner Phil Taylor with a variety of games at Newcastle's only interactive darts facility. And this Gate-based boozer has you covered even if you can't tell your bull from your ochre. Pizza, a rotating selection of beers (which are usually crackers), and a ton of TVs for watching football make for the ideal day out with the guys.

Newcastle's Stein Bierkeller
Good day! Greetings from the most authentic Bavarian bar west of Munich. Set aside a space for a night of German mayhem, don your best lederhosen, and raise a glass to the home of Audi, Beethoven, and Uwe Rösler. For the most part, the Stien Bierkeller Newcastle sticks to a tried-and-true formula, making it a fantastic bar. Do you want to dance at tables to loud music? Verify. Do you wish to have a genuine Bigg Market encounter? Verify? And since you're trying to arrange a stag do, I'm assuming you want strong beer served in something akin to a vat? Verify. You won't want to say "auf wiedersehen" because everything is so lovely; just remember to keep the conflict out of everything you say and do.

The Bar of Mushrooms
This could be the perfect place to condense a Geordie night into one bar. For almost two decades, the employees of Mushroom, a notorious hangout on Tyneside, have been providing hangover fuel. Their preferred weaponry? Triples. Trebles so forceful they'll blow your shoes off. You would have also observed that, in the past, the location boasted some of the stickiest floors in the Northern Hemisphere (which is probably not unexpected considering how many Red Bulls and vodka they would drink).

Though it's unclear how much thought you'll be putting into the décor after your fifth Skittles, the location has lately been updated and looks fantastic.
