In may, we were in Bergen, Norway, to take part of KARDEMOMYANG. This very controversial performance, directed by Morten Traavik, was featuring 7 virtuose musicians from the so-called "worst country in the world" : North Korea.
They played a very diversified repertoire, mix of political or apolitical Korean folk songs, national anthems, Norwegian standards, Eurovision success, and, of course, songs from the famous (in Norway) children book of Thorbjorn Egner "When the Robbers Came to Cardamom Town".
We designed (with the help of mr Egner) all the background projected images.
Be carefull : we used unusual elements, such as rainboys, laughing children , pink watercolour and A LOT flowers. This may deeply shock some of you. We tried to beat the North Korean on the battleground of über-kitsch, but despise our sincere efforts, we failed.
Beating the North Korean on kitsch imagery is like getting fined for overspeeding at a Formula 1 competition.
