PSA Posters Offering Alternatives to Childhood Technology Overconsumption
In creating these PSA posters, my goal was to promote a compelling message of my choice. I have a passion for healthy family life and am concerned about how very little is being said regarding the overconsumption of technology among children. My goal was to not only inspire parents to encourage their children to use less technology but also offer alternatives to unhealthy habits that would improve home life.
While brainstorming, I went through many concepts. After settling on the idea of offering alternatives to technology use, I pushed the idea further until I settled on using current popular forms of technology that would catch attention and be relatable to viewers.
Below are my first drafts. I tried to find images that included children between the ages of 2-8 which are years when technology is often treated as a "babysitter" by parents. The annotations (crossing out, circling, and underlines) were made to look like Crayon. It implies that it was written by the child addressing an inner need.
To refine my drafts, I increased the contrast on the bottom of the posters by shading it. I also made the annotations stand out more by giving them a bolder color. I added a stronger call to action. I also improved the hierarchy by making the Ad logo smaller and improved the alignment of my assets to my grid.
I'm pleased with how these posters turned out! If you like what you see and you'd like to work with me, feel free to reach out at lexiestou00@gmail.com.
