"Freedom of expression is not freedom of consequences."
In creating my social awareness project, I wanted to convey the idea that while everyone has the right to express themselves freely, it's crucial to recognize that this freedom doesn't shield us from the potential consequences of our words. I strongly believe in the principle that "Freedom of expression is not freedom of consequences."
To drive this point home, I drew inspiration from a quote by United Nations Secretary-General AntĆ³nio Guterres, who stated, "Addressing hate speech does not mean limiting or prohibiting freedom of speech. It means keeping hate speech from escalating into something more dangerous, particularly incitement to discrimination, hostility, and violence, which is prohibited under international law."
In my project, I aimed to highlight the responsibility that comes with freedom of expression. I wanted to stress that it's not about restricting speech but about preventing it from turning harmful, especially when it leads to discrimination or violence. I believe that by understanding this distinction, we can foster a more respectful and constructive dialogue in our society.

Through real-life examples and stories, I demonstrated how misuse of freedom of expression can have tangible, negative impacts on individuals and communities. The goal was to encourage a culture of thoughtful communication, where we consider the potential consequences of our words and strive for understanding and unity in our diverse communities.
