Introduction
Throughout my years as a freelance graphic designer, I've gone by different aliases, primarily by the name 'Rhyse' for the past six years. Although now that I've gained more design knowledge and experience, I thought it was important to make sure my personal brand going forward reflected the real me, and a nickname or alias. My name is J.V. Rodriguez, so I shortened my name down to just my intials to come up with my new business name: JVR Creative.
It was important to me to create a whole new visual language for this personal brand, but still keep parts of all my old logos and branding for cohesion overall.
One art movement that constantly inspires me is brutalism, and I feel like a majority of my work also reflects this school of thought. With all of this in mind, the first step was to craft a custom logo, instead of relying on pre-existing typefaces, in order to truly make my brand stand out.
Client: JVR Creative (myself)
Deliverables: Creative direction and branding
Process
Using my old branding work as references, I wanted to create a brand identity that still incorporated old parts of these identities, but at the same time is reflective of my growth and constant exploration as a designer.
