Pismo Beach Locals

A friend of mine asked me for a logo for a t-shirt idea he had. He is a local surfer in the Pismo Beach Area, which was a blue collar community in the Central California, but is now is facing a lot of gentrification and an influx of outsiders. I'm all for sharing, but I can relate to the frustrations of when new people come into a community that has a strong identity and a long-standing history and they want to make changes and craft it into something suited for themselves, I can also relate to being a surfer and having a lot of new people show up in your regular surfing line-up, who are more recreational in nature and don't understand or respect the protocols and heritage of the area they are in. It's something we have had to cope with in San Clemente and I sympathize with the guys up in Pismo.

He wanted me to recreate the Pabst Blue Ribbon, I really wanted to make it an adaptation of it, but he insisted that it be es exact as possible. I know that Frederick Goudy, who's work i reatly respect and admire, was involved with Pabst Blue Ribbon for quite a while, thought I do not who invented this form of the logo, but If it was him - i apologize Mr. Goudy, but I hope you can appreciate this - just a hair- from wherever in the Universe you are running these days.

Tread lightly people and respect others, those are my ending words.
