Brief
CBBC, CBeebies’ older sibling for children aged 6-12, produces and airs a wide range of programmes including popular shows ‘Blue Peter’, ‘Horrible Histories’ and ‘The Nowhere Boys’. Continuity links were occasionally pre-recorded, but often filmed live in the BBC studio.
As part of a Horrible Histories continuity link, the CBBC Extra team wanted a number of graphic assets which would be incorporated into their VT for CBBC’s digital channel. These included both static and motion broadcast graphics which took visual reference from the Horrible Histories IP, the show which presenter and puppet Hacker T. Dog had hijacked.
Solution
An amended Horrible Histories logo and a scrolling timeline of famous dogs throughout history were created in Photoshop using official HH assets and original photography supplied by the CBBC directors. The team also needed yellow smoke overlaid onto footage of a bubbling Viking cauldron, which I created in After Effects.
