PM Modi Flags Off Gujarat’s First Heritage Train

PM Modi Launches Gujarat’s First Heritage Train
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened Gujarat’s first heritage train, which will transport visitors to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s memorial, the Statue of Unity, from here to Ahmedabad.
An electric engine that has been customized to resemble a steam locomotive will pull the three-coach heritage train. It will also have a sound system and foggers to simulate the sound of steam.
“The train is a blend of heritage and modern facilities,” Prime Minister Modi declared as he launched it here during the Ekta Divas festivities.
The Narmada district contains Ekta Nagar, often referred to as Kevadiya. The three coaches each hold 48 passengers, and the 28-seat AC restaurant dining car with teak wood dining tables and two seat cushioned sofas is available for travelers to have a cup of tea and some refreshments.
Starting on November 5, the train will run on Sundays as part of a weekly schedule. After considering how the service is received, the frequency would be raised, according to Jitendra Kumar Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Vadodara.

The Integral Coach Factory in Perambur, Chennai, created the teak wood interiors for every coach.
The first effort to operate rail services was made in 1862 by Khanderao Gaekwad, the ruler of Baroda State at the time. Vadodara has a rich history with railroads. On an eight-mile route between Dabhoi and Miyagam, the trains were dragged by oxen in the past. By 1880, locomotives were being utilized frequently on the route.
The train leaves Ahmedabad at 6:10 am and arrives at Ekta Nagar, the Kevadia railway station that houses the Statue of Unity in the Sardar Sarovar dam’s reservoir, around 9:50 am.
Convenient Schedule for Tourists Exploring Kevadia’s Attractions
The train will leave Ekta Nagar at 8:23 p.m. on its return trip and arrive in Ahmedabad five minutes after midnight. The cost for a one-way trip is ₹ 885.
There won’t be any stops made by the train during the 182-kilometer trip from Ekta Nagar to Ahmedabad.
Kevadia was once a tranquil village set between the Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges. However, since the world’s largest statue, the Statue of Unity, was unveiled nearby, Kevadia has experienced a dramatic makeover.
In addition to the world’s tallest statue, Kevadia offers a variety of tourist activities, such as a glow garden, rafting, mazes, cruises, jungle safaris, and Narmada Aarti.
After taking in the light and sound display and other late-night activities here, visitors can schedule their return trip according to the heritage train’s departure time. India is home to several heritage trains, such as the Matheran Hill Railway, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the Kangra Valley Railway, and the Kalka-Shimla Railway.
