The concept behind Bodoni Digitale is to bring Bodoni, a classic serif typeface, into the Digital Age. Bodoni was developed by Giambattista Bodoni in Italy in 1798. Bodoni Digitale alters the basic structure of Bodoni to create a new ambiance.
Throughout this project, I combine digital noise texture with retro futuristic imagery. I found a correlation between Bodoni Digitale's goal and the popular retro futuristic style of the
60s, 70s, and 80s.
Bodoni Digitale brings the classic Bodoni typeface into the Digital Age. The core structure of Bodoni has been altered to feature asymmetrical elements and high contrast line weights. The most noticable feature of Bodoni Digitale is its glitch effect.
After designing to Vogue cover (seen later in the post) I wanted to give my these designs the feeling that these were different photos and textures that were cut out of that issue of Vogue and collaged together. Bodoni is commonly used in fashion publications, which inspired the design for the Vogue cover.
The Bodoni Digitale typeface can be used to add a fun, funky, fresh element to your designs. You can download the typeface file here
