MedRec Health  —
Mobile Design 2017
Worked with a health start-up based in India and London to create a mobile health management system for general practises. MedRec bridges the gap between patients and doctors by allowing the use of video calling, arranging appointments and managing presriptions.
The Problem
The idea was to design a digital health management system where doctors and patients could communite through booking appointments and having a direct messaging system. Mobile health had been increasingly becoming popular in Europe and the U.S so MedRec wanted to bring this solution to small general practises.
Currently many practises still rely on outdated software where training and paper report usage is still heavily used. The application had to feel native to the patient and to doctors.
Role
Worked designing the visual and user experience of the application with the Technical Architect and Project Manager to complete a prototype in Invision for company stakeholders.
With every project there are constraints, this project had a time limit of 3 days where I had worked with the technical architect to plan and design the system of how it was going to work. Using UX practises and standards from my previous project experience and visual design patterns had allowed me to execute this application swiftly.
The visual direction focused on a clean and minimal user interface with clean iconography and typography. The typeface that was selected for this project was Karla, which was a screen friendly font
The visual direction for this application focused on having a minimal user interface following the apple design guidelines with clean typography and stroke based iconography. Having clean typography allowed users to easily read their medical content, the typeface used was Karla, a popular font amongst application design.
It was vital to follow Apple’s design guidelines due to the time limit of the project, having a tab bar system was preferred amongst team members as it would direct users to the products core functionalities.

Booking an appointment with a doctor is easy, the design shows users doctors ratings to build trust for the patient before they make a decision to book an appointment. Patients have the option to filter through different doctors, medical experience and qualifications. Through this the design gives a good experience to give control to the user so they can make a solid decision on who they want to seek help from.
Prescriptions allow patients to manage their supplies prescribed by their doctor. This allows patients to be on track with their medicine and dosage by having a digital record.
