Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Project Naturally

Project Naturally
by Emi Hiraki
This Project is about assigning function to self-designed images. As a designer, it is important that you make clear choices, based on the knowledge you have gained beforehand. The freedom of making experimental work ensures that you don't keep thinking in standard forms and dare to step out of your comfort zone.
The first thing we did this project is gather photos and items that will be the focus for the project. All the items were acquired in the local woods. here are a few things I pictured that day.
With all the items we gathered we did experiments. both physical and digital. For the physical experiments we did things like using the material as paint brushes or a stamp. For the digital experiment we played with filters and settings in photoshop. here are all the experiments I did.
We chose five experiments that we were going to analyse to figure out what for vibe it had, what it would advertise, and we needed to find two fonts for each image.
Then the moment finally came that we could start with the poster designs. we started with choosing an image for the poster. and got the instructions that we needed to make a poster series of three posters, and we could only use and add other experiments.
at first, I chose a different image because I was set on the idea of a garage sale.
after realising I was not getting extremely far because of the overwhelming background. I decided to start over and choosing a different image. I knew with this image it would be for a band but couldn’t decide which one. after a while looking at the image and album covers it finally clicked. Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
so, I started experimenting with composition and shape.
After I made three compositions that I liked, I added texture to match more with the band.
and to know how my final product would look like I added it in a mock up.
During this project I learned that you do not always need to create a final project the first second. I also learned to work with limitations. I also figured out that sometimes it is better to take a break or start anew than stay stuck on a design, and that the first few designs aren’t always the best design. I really enjoyed this project and will show my result proudly to the world.
