This is a sketch I made of a scene from the Ramayana story. The hero is Rama, and he is stringing a magical bow (which everyone else has failed to string) to wind the hand of the princess Sita. This is one of India's ancient epics and runs to 24,000 verses. It is second in size only to the Mahabharat which runs to 100,000 verses. The Ramayana is written by sage Valmiki, and tells the story of Rama's life alongwith his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana, and of the battle between Rama and Ravana.
