VIVI Creative was approached by an Education tech company called Teach Pips, and asked to design and develop their new interactive website. Teach Pips is a subscription based learning portal with downloadable educational resources and online lessons aimed at Parents, Tutors and Schools for children in Primary School age groups.
The idea of creating a map was suggested by the founders, with six zones representing the six year groups. There would be 50 lessons per year group and the students would work their way around the map.
We developed a bespoke backend admin section, where not only could the lesson be uploaded, but the progress of individual students and school groups could be tracked. Feedback from lessons and quiz to ensure full understanding of topic was also developed and implemented.
This map so much fun to create, we first designed and illustrated the map before creating it as an interactive digital world. We created six zones representing the six year groups, Year 1 is the Jurassic period, Year 2 is medieval, Year 3 takes students on a safari, Year 4 is a spooky Halloween land, Year 5 is in the modern world of a city and finally Year 6 travel to the North Pole.
We created a Google maps esc version with x6 zoom. Each lesson had its own spot on the map, and the individual avatars would move around the map on completion of lessons.
We designed and developed a bespoke web app and admin section, giving them the ability to upload lessons in Jpeg or PDF format. The lessons can then be viewed and downloaded through the website, in a purpose built viewing platform, similar to Youtube. Where you can scroll though lessons and enlarge to fill screen.
There are 50 interactive lessons per year group with downloadable worksheets and the students work their way around the map, completing each lesson in order. The Website remembers where the child has progressed to and stores all the data for the next visit.
We designed and developed the web app using the following; Adobe illustrator, PHP7 backend language, MySQL data base, HTML, Java Script, SCSS frontend, Email Management Send grid, Payment Pathway Stripe and cloud hosting using AWS EC2.
