PT: Desde ideais políticos dispersos baseados em ideias anarquistas difusas a movimentos radicalmente individualistas, os punks procuraram desde o início uma destruição total e absoluta do mundo velho e estabelecido, mas sempre numa postura niilista da interpretação da realidade. Tal como os iluministas queriam a destruição do antigo regime absolutista ou Descartes a destruição da filosofia antiga, também os punk desejavam uma destruição de todas as estruturas sociais existentes para a construção de novas.
EN: From scattered political ideals based on diffuse anarchist ideas to radically individualist movements, punks sought from the beginning a total and absolute destruction of the old and established world, but always with a nihilistic stance on the interpretation of reality. Just as the Illuminists wanted the destruction of the old absolutist regime or Descartes the destruction of ancient philosophy, punks also wanted the destruction of all existing social structures in order to build new ones.
PT: Neste projeto realizou-se uma pesquisa, reflexão e elaboração de uma proposta editorial em torno da transição do modernismo para o pós-modernismo e a consolidação da profissão de designer. Numa fase inicial, realizou-se uma pesquisa em torno do contexto britânico e focado no trabalho de Barney Bubbles. Após a consolidação desta fase, haveria um foco na transição, já referida acima, e de como este designer inspirou o trabalhos dos que vieram a seguir e o sucederam, falando principalmente de Peter Saville e Malcolm Garrett.
Aqui existe uma forte ligação entre o design, a música e o sentimento de inconformidade que na época se vivia, e é intenção desta 1ª publicação que aprofunde o trabalho destes 3 designers gráficos na elevação do punk britânico como um dos movimentos musicais mais impactantes da história moderna.
EN: In this project, research, reflection and preparation of an editorial proposal were carried out around the transition from modernism to post-modernism and the consolidation of the design profession. Initially, research was carried out around the British context and focused on the work of Barney Bubbles. After the consolidation of this phase, there would be a focus on the transition, already mentioned above, and how this designer inspired the work of those who followed and followed him, speaking mainly of Peter Saville and Malcolm Garrett.
Here there is a strong connection between design, music and the feeling of nonconformity that was experienced at the time, and it's the intention of this first publication to delve deeper into the work of these 3 graphic designers in elevating British punk as one of the most impactful musical movements in modern history.
