The illustrations drew inspiration from Alitalia’s rich historical and iconographical legacy dating back to its beginnings. Using a more contemporary style, they picked up on a number of the fundamental values of Alitalia’s identity, such as its positive Italian-ness, its authoritativeness and pioneering spirit. The illustrations also relaunched a few highly appealing aspects such as the glamour of flying and the legendary allure of travel. Moreover, the format adapts successfully to different levels of communication, from narratives (such as in advertising) to pure information (logistical communications).
