Image of the Studio, co-curated and organized by the Herb Lubalin Study Center at the Cooper Union and the creative studio Athletics, featured over 75 current graphic design firms in New York, as of October 2013. Each studio was asked to submit original work, a portrait, as well as a range of data designed to document the structure, history and culture of each. The goal of this exhibit was to explore the dynamic relationships between studios and how we are connected, through data visualizations and information graphics.
We were tasked to submit an original 30x30in artwork that would be displayed during the exhibit. We wanted to communicate the importance of the co-existence of WORK and PLAY at the studio. A lenticular made up of 30 2in wide strips of wood, with vinyl stickers for type, was carefully crafted to execute this concept.
