‘You guys put so much effort into making this, it really shows!’
Laura van Eerten, Institute for Dutch Lexicology

Do you know where peanut butter comes from? We certainly didn’t. We quickly found out though, when the Institute for Dutch Lexicology asked us to create the cover for a booklet about the Dutch language.

Some explanation is needed:
The Dutch word for peanut butter is ‘pindakaas’ (peanutcheese), because the word ‘butter’ can only be used for products that actually contain butter. Since peanut butter doesn’t, they decided to call it peanutcheese for some reason.

To show where ‘peanutcheese’ comes from, we crafted a peanut-cheese; A chunk of cheese literally made out of peanuts. Presented on a cheeseboard to make it look like the real deal. Pretty convincing right? It’s really a Dutch thing though…

First copy
At the annual lexicology convention the first copy was presented to Dutch Royal Highness Princess Laurentien.
