Virtual Architectures Exhibition

We had a lesson last year, Virtual Architectures, that the base was exercises using Rhinoceros and Grasshoper, mixing that with other techniques for render, or even combining autoCAD drawings. Summarizing, this lessons has as base a palette tool made by several CAD/CAM systems (Computer Assisted Design & Computer Aided Modeling).

In the beginning Professor Mauro Costa ordered from each student a video presentation about ourselves, to know us individually. From this first part we arranged in groups and he decided with us to make an exhibition from each group’s artifact at the end of the semester. My group got responsible to organize it, prepare the place where it would happen, assemble the pieces, the identity and publish the event.

At some point he decided to make a paper out of it and apply for GEOMETRIAS’14, an annual meeting about the teaching practice of Geometry. He offered the chance to write the paper* with my group since it was compatible with our duty.

At the end, the exhibition was a great experience for all of us (of course it is harder when we have really to make the artifact we draw at the end of the semester :D but worth it). From all the videos our colleagues made to present their ideas we edited them together to show the result of the lesson and try to show a bit how it was the team effort.

Our professor presented, as well, in the International Congress about Design and Culture in IPEK University - Ankara - Turkey, on May 27, 2014.

{identity}
We decided to create the identity from the idea of a net, one piece of work depending on the other to give a final result. So we designed the icon connecting one work to the other creating a net, as it was placed in the exhibition's room.

Some piece of work from our colleagues for the lesson's exhibition.
It was really team effort and it's totally different when a lesson challenges not just to design but make it for real.
Here is the video we edited out of the documentation we made about the exhibition through the process and we used parts of the videos from our colleagues to show specifically their work as well. We used this video to present the work in a conference.
