Elle s'est accordé un voyage initiatique en Thaïlande dans un monastère pour rechercher la spiritualité mais également s'initier au muay-thaï afin de devenir une experte dans cet art martial tout en apprenant à se défendre sans devoir être dépendante d'un homme pour la secourir comme lorsqu'elle a été confronté à l'exterminateur Panik au royaume des duellistes et le monstre maître ninja de l'acteur Jean-Claude Magnum.

Après avoir obtenue sa ceinture noire 2e dan, Maï a dû participer à un tournoi local dans la banlieue de Bangkok et a remporté sans grande difficulté tous les combats qu'elle a dû livrer. A présent elle se sent prête à revoir Joey qui s'est installé sur l'île d’Hokkaido après la fin du lycée.
