"Beswitched"is a bookwhich holds a typical content motif: The main characteris reborn back to the past,where lessons are learned and a better person is shaped. No matter how typical the book is and how many times I have read it, Beswitched leaves mewith profound interests and contemplations of my own life.

The Main Story:
The story is about Flora who mysteriously traversed from the present back to the past. She had been reborn and had studied at a girl's boarding school before WWII happened. Flora had to follow strict rules of the school like she was in an army, in which she experienced sleeping on the iron bed, taking a shower twice a week and suffering a bully like how it normally happened in most of schools. In contrast, Flora befriended with 3 kind roommates of hers, who found a ancient magic book and accidentally "sent" Flora back to the past. This is the journey of Flora finding a way back home. What could she do when the spell in the ancient book have no reverse method. How could Flora cope with the exotic life in the boarding school ? The book tells them all!

Chapter 2: Flora Fox realized that her reflection in the mirror was not her at all while she was traveling on a train going back to the past.
Chapter 3: Flora stepped into the girl's boarding school principal's room - panicking, while the principal helped calm Flora down with a piece of cookies and a cup of tea
Chapter 5: The 3 roommates of Flora told her how they sent Flora back to the past by casting a spell in the ancient magic book the found.
Chapter 6: The encounter between Flora and the bully.
Chapter 7: The first time Flora see her teacher ,who was unexpectely stric t.
Chapter 11: Flora met the principal, who was also a witch, in her dream. The principal unveiled a way for Flora to go back to the present.
Chapter 13: All conflicts were eased and eliminated. Huggings happened in a lovely way between Flora and her friends after all.
Chapter 14: The witch principal performed magic in her office to let the past Flora and the present Flora meet each other through and antique mirror, although they couldn't speak to each other.
SCENE AESTHETICS: Vintage clothes from the western areas in 1900s always appeals me. Most of them project the elegance of a well-mannered person with clean and neutral colors.
ART STYLE: The drawing techniques and neutral color applications of these two artists bring me a feeling of completion, because their artwork depicts what children love about but not in a totally childlike way. The coloring techniques and colors used are amazing and "matchy" with the vibe of England - the land of mist”
COLOR PALLETTE
Netflix' binge-watiching series Queen’s Gambit was a huge inspiration for me to create a rendition of this book. With scenes happening in 1930s and an amazingly neutral pantone, the series gave me a lot of senses and imagination for the reillustrated Beswitch. Colors are crucial factors in shifting emotions. The manipulation of colors can be performed by using the color pallete of a static photo. Cool colors evokes the sadness and lonliness while warm colors show joy and warm-hearted feelings.
Red, Yellow, and Orange evokes strong emotions of passion, love, happiness and sometimes anger. While colors like blue, green and purple with different shades cause us to feel indifferent, sad and sober.

LAYOUT SKETCHING
After a few first sketches,I was advised by my consulting teacher, which allowed me to decide to choose the 4th option as my official option for the book. The other 3 sketches was said to describe character movements in such strong way way that is not appropriate for readers at 8 to 12 years old. Not only character designs but also colors are limited in layouting this kind of book.

GARAMOND
Garamond, after being printed, becomes elegant, and easy-to-be read on paper
Square in shape, slim in terms of sharpness, clear bold bars.
