PRIETA
Prieta es una tienda en la Ciudad de Oaxaca. Este espacio alberga dos bellos proyectos textiles: Kotó y Lúdico, ambos llevados respectivamente por las oaxaqueñas Samantha y Lucy.
Los conceptos generales para el desarrollo de este proyecto de branding fueron: sororidad, apoyo mutuo, dualidad, comunidad, empoderamiento femenino, hecho a mano y wabi sabi.

Prieta is a beautiful shop in Oaxaca City. This space hosts two great textile projects: Kotó and Lúdico, both run by Oaxacan women Samantha and Lucy.
The general concepts for the development of this branding project were: sisterhood, mutual support, duality, community, female empowerment, handmade and wabi sabi.
Las ilustraciones fueron inspiradas en el trabajo de ilustradores mexicanos de 1920-1950, y la tipografía se hizo con blockprints de las mismas décadas. La posición de pie y sedente del personaje son las mismas que se encuentran en dibujos de algunos códices prehispánicos zapotecas.

For the illustrators i was inspired by the work of mexican illustrators from 1920-1950, and the font was made with blockprints of the same decades. The stand and seated position of the character are the same found in drawings of some zapotecan prehispanic codex.
En cuanto a la paleta de color, se escogió un amarillo intenso que encontramos en madejas de hilos teñidas con pericón. Oaxaca cuenta con una antigua tradición de teñido, hilado y tejido, mismos procesos textiles usados por las marcas que alberga Prieta.

For the color palette, an intense yellow was chosen, which we found in skeins of yarn dyed with pericon. Oaxaca has an ancient tradition of dyeing, spinning and weaving, the same textile processes used by the brands that Prieta hosts.
Finalmente, imprimimos algunos materiales en risografía y adaptamos poco a poco el nuevo branding en la tienda. Admiro enormemente el esfuerzo y dedicación de Samantha y Lucy en mantener el espacio y la marca alineados con la visión de cada una de sus marcas textiles. Sin duda fue un placer colaborar con mujeres tan talentosas.

Finally, we printed some materials in risography and gradually adapted the new branding in the store. I greatly admire Samantha and Lucy's effort and dedication in keeping the space and brand aligned with the vision of each of their textile brands. It was certainly a pleasure to collaborate with such talented women.
