Sylipsi — branding & identity

I co-founded Sylipsi with a team of independent artists to offer cross-media, holistic communication solutions. Starting with a fundamental idea, we created custom illustrations using fine-art media and photography, to later digitize and retouch them as necessary and finally use them in projects that we designed and published on-line and off-line.
The Sylipsi identity system, including our web site, reflected our workflow and used the timeline metaphor. From left to right. From start to end. From concept (συλληψη or silipsis in Greek) – our name and logo; to basic elements – fine art, photography; to digitization and transformation – digital retouching; to final published result – web design, print design.
A color symbolized each area of our expertise. Yellow – for business procedures, green – for fine art illustration, red – for photography illustration, blue – for digital retouching, orange – for web design, and violet – for print design. This identity system extended to Sylipsi’s printed material as well.
Each of Sylipsi’s visit cards shared a common verso side, albeit with a different color to symbolize the cardholder’s main area of expertise. As on our web site, our visit cards used the timeline metaphor to illustrate our workflow. From concept (συλληψη or silipsis in Greek) – our name and logo; to basic elements – fine art, photography; to digitization and transformation – digital retouching; to final published result – web design, print design.
The recto side of each Sylipsi card provided the cardholder’s main areas of expertise and personal contact information. In my case, the stripe was red, for photography, the same as for the photography section of our web site. Because of the thin-lined design and precise recto / verso positioning, we printed the cards on HP Indigo press to avoid the likely misregistration on classic offset machines.
The recto side of each Sylipsi card provided the cardholder’s main areas of expertise and personal contact information. In the case of Christine AUGER, the stripe was green, for fine art, the same as for the fine art illustration section of our web site.
